SUMA’s Annual Art Auction

The annual art auction at the Southern Utah Museum of Art is their biggest fundraising event of the year—bringing together collectors, community members, and artists in a fast-paced live auction setting.

My role in the event spans from early-stage preparation to the final guest departure, allowing me to contribute to both the design and execution of the experience.

In the days leading up to the auction, I assist with event setup. I help plan and install the art works in the gallery as well as tablescapes and floral arrangements. Each table is thoughtfully designed to reflect the tone of the evening—balancing aesthetics, cohesion, and functionality. This work draws on my creative practice and attention to detail, helping transform the gallery into a warm, elevated event space that enhances the overall guest experience.

During the live auction, I serve in what we affectionately call the “Vanna White” role—presenting artwork to the audience as bidding takes place. Moving throughout the room with each piece, I help ensure guests have a clear, engaging view of the work while maintaining the pace and energy of the auction.

Beyond presentation, I’m responsible for the careful handling of artwork throughout the event—transitioning pieces from display to sold works, coordinating packaging, and assisting collectors with pickup. This requires both precision and adaptability in a fast-moving environment.

Through this work, I’ve developed skills in event styling and visual design (tablescapes & florals), high-pressure, live event coordination, artwork handling and presentation, and donor and guest experience.

This project reflects my ability to blend creative design with event execution, creating experiences that are both visually compelling and thoughtfully organized.
