Presenting at the Utah Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters
A conference presentation on how indigenous Taíno art has shaped cultural identity and artistic traditions in the Dominican Republic
I presented my research on Taíno art at the Utah Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters conference, held at Utah Valley University. In preparing for this presentation, I worked closely with Dr. Andy Kent-Marvick, Dr. Matt Nickerson, and Katie Englert, whose guidance helped me refine my argument and how I communicated it in a conference setting. This experience allowed me to share my work with a broader academic audience, engage in thoughtful discussion, and respond to questions that challenged me to think more critically about my research. Presenting in this environment reinforced the value of articulating ideas clearly within an academic community. This experience reflects my interest in participating in academic spaces where research is shared, discussed, and developed collaboratively, and my commitment to contributing to conversations surrounding art, history, and cultural identity.
